Clare College

We have an Environment and Ethical Affairs Committee (EEAC) that meets fortnightly. It's a relatively new group but we've already got some good stuff done, such as organising a collection of unwanted food and clothing at the end of last year, which was all sent to Jimmy's Night Shelter in Cambridge.

Socially Responsible Investment

At the moment, we're working on getting the college to adopt an Ethical Investment policy.

Green things

Clare's already got pretty good recycling facilities. Next step is to encourage students to use them, which we're hoping to do during Lent 09 with a Green Awareness campaign. We're probably going to have one "Green Action" each week which we heavily promote, such as taking your own bags to Sainsbury's.

We're taking part in the Go Greener Campaign and have set up a steering group.

Ethical consumption

We organised a Local and Organic Food Formal in Mich 08 and are planning to do this next term as well.

Get involved!

If you'd like to help out with any of the above stuff, or have more ideas you think we could do, then get in touch by emailing Amy, Clare's Green Officer (afm45).
